Natural Looking Fillings - I pride myself on emulating the natural esthetics of teeth when a restoration is needed. In this case, I removed the existing decay and restored with a strong and beautiful composite (tooth colored) filling. The materials I chose here mimic the original tooth's shade and blend in nicely. When completed, there is no evidence of where tooth ends and filling begins.
Changing Child's Smile - We should never underestimate how important a nice smile can be, even to very young children! This 5 year old child had decay on her front two teeth, making her embarrassed to smile. I impart the same high standards of beauty and quality for baby teeth as adult teeth, and when completed, these final restorations are impossible to distinguish from the natural tooth. Say cheese!! 🙂
This case is very dear to my heart because this is my daughter! The before and after here really illustrates what is possible with Invisalign. This challenging case was completed in 1 year without any extractions!
Silver mercury fillings served our profession well in the past, but we now have better ways to restore teeth. This silver filling had decay around it, so we replaced it with a strong and esthetic composite filling. The composite I use in particular is considered one of the best in the industry and, when combined with exquisite placement technique, will provide this patient with many many years of service!
I frequently see patients with chipped and broken front teeth like you see here. Unfortunately, restoring these teeth to their natural form is only half the battle. Identifying the underlying cause is just as important as placing a beautiful restoration! Nail biting, clenching, grinding and other unhealthy habits can destroy your teeth! If we find and treat the causes, we can prevent future fractures and assure the longest life of the teeth.
Modern dentistry never ceases to amaze me! The metal posts you see on the left are called dental implants. In the dental profession we consider dental implants to be the standard of care for replacing missing teeth. Once healed, the implants are fitted with porcelain crowns to fully restore form and function! Here, I placed the crowns and Dr. Deighan, a talented Oral Surgeon in the Ellsworth area, placed the implants. I routinely work with Dr. Deighan to achieve terrific clinical results like this!
Kids, wear your mouthguards! As you can see, basketballs break teeth! I restored this fractured tooth with a layered, polychromatic bonded filling designed to last until the patient reaches maturity. At that point a stronger restoration, such as a crown, will be needed for the long haul.
Never Too Old! - Whitening your teeth can be stunning at any age! With our KoR whitening system, even teeth in their 80's can be revitalized!
Subtle Changes, Noticable Results - Whenever I can, I choose the least invasive treatment to achieve the desired result. This patient was unhappy with the shape of her teeth and a large white spot. A small amount of reshaping and a surface filling was all it took to drastically change this patient's smile! No numbing necessary
Closing Gaps - Sometimes, gaps between teeth cannot be completely closed with braces alone. In this case we chose to close the patient's residual space with tooth colored fillings. I built these restorations with multiple layers and shades in order to match the surrounding teeth perfectly. The best part is, I did not have to drill into either of the teeth in order to place these beautiful bonded restorations.
I want to emphasize just how important the everyday stuff is. This case is a simple filling, but when done expertly it is sensitivity free, long lasting AND esthetic.
We utilized Invisalign in combination with whitening and two bonded fillings to achieve this awesome result! It's cases like this that make me love my job!
Treatment with Invisalign isn't always simply about straightening teeth. In this case, the patient's narrow upper arch caused dark spaces when she smiled. We broadened her arch with Invisalign and gave her that brilliant smile.
This patient had lost two teeth in a car accident a few years ago and came to us for help. This very challenging case involved placing two dental implants, KoR deep bleaching and a fixed bridge with simulated gum tissue. The picture with the green stuff on the gums (a protective liquid dam used during bleaching) really illustrates the dramatic results we get with KoR whitening. The darker shade teeth are the patient's temporary crowns, which had matched her previous tooth shade! A few weeks later we matched the newly bleached teeth to make her final porcelain crowns.
This traumatized front tooth had started to darken over time. Teeth like this do not respond to conventional bleaching techniques and must be whitened from the inside out! This treatment took a few months, but the results came out great!
Personally, this is one of my favorite cases. I just love the result we were able to get with Invisalign alone!
Indeed, one of the biggest challenges in dentistry is matching a single front tooth crown to the surrounding teeth. I'm very proud of this result and how natural it looks!
Another example of what Invisalign and a little whitening can do...did I mention whitening is totally free with our Invisalign treatment? 🙂
